Abstract

This study investigates the significant shift from traditional to fast food consumption patterns in rural Haryana, focusing on the Hisar district. Through a survey of 720 respondents across 20 villages, we explore the impact of globalization, urbanization, and socioeconomic changes on dietary habits. Our findings reveal a marked increase in fast food consumption, driven by lifestyle alterations and economic development, despite the persistence of traditional dietary staples like milk, curd, and ghee. The transition is associated with notable health implications, including the rise of lifestyle diseases. By examining the factors contributing to this dietary shift, this research highlights the complex interplay between cultural traditions and modern influences, offering insights into the evolving food preferences in rural Haryana. Our study underscores the need for targeted nutritional education and policy interventions to promote healthier eating habits amidst rapid socioeconomic transitions.
