ABSTRACT

This article explores the importance of teaching foreign language folklore genres in enhancing students’ language skills. Incorporating folklore, such as storytelling, songs, and artistic expressions, into language instruction provides numerous benefits. These include vocabulary expansion, improved grammar knowledge, cultural insights, increased motivation, and enhanced oral communication skills. The article argues that by introducing traditional folklore, educators offer students a unique opportunity to understand the linguistic features, cultural nuances, and historical contexts of the target language. Learning a language is a complex process that goes beyond grammar, vocabulary, and speaking; it requires integrating various skills. The inclusion of folklore genres significantly enhances fluency by providing students with a deeper connection to the target language's culture and history. Through folklore, students gain valuable cultural, linguistic, and historical knowledge while building confidence and becoming more effective communicators. Integrating folklore into language lessons creates a richer, more engaging experience, promoting both comprehensive language development and a deeper appreciation of the target culture.
