Abstract

This study aims to enhance students’ abilities to appreciate Tembang Macapat Pangkur using E-Gamelan media at SMPN 19 Surabaya. E-Gamelan media was chosen as an innovative tool to stimulate students’ interest and skills in learning Tembang Macapat, considering the declining interest of the younger generation in traditional Javanese literature. This research employs a quantitative method with a classroom action research design involving 34 eighth-grade students. The study was conducted in three cycles, starting with a diagnostic test to measure students’ initial knowledge, followed by teaching using PowerPoint media, and finally using the E-Gamelan application. The results showed a significant improvement in the ability to appreciate Tembang Macapat Pangkur after using E-Gamelan. The average knowledge score of students increased from 45.4 in the first cycle to 82 in the third cycle, while the average skill score increased from 67.2 to 82.6. The number of students achieving the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) also increased from 0 to 11 in knowledge and from 0 to 29 in skills. These findings suggest that integrating technology in learning can significantly enhance student learning outcomes, particularly in traditional arts and cultural education.
