Abstract

Aesthetics in performing arts is a study that focuses on the beauty and artistic expression contained in it. One of the traditional performing arts rich in aesthetic values is the Lengger Lanang Dance, a typical dance originating from Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. This dance is known as a pair and features dynamic and expressive movements, accompanied by seven parikan (sonwithhave different themes and nuances. These parikan, such as Gunung Sari, Sali Silir, Angger Kang Mas, Salinting Pacul Guwing, Melik-Melik, Gandrung Mangu, and Kebo Giro, provide variety and artistic richness in every performance. Another uniqueness of the Lengger Lanang Dance is the cross-gender phenomeurs in its performances. The male dancers dress up as women, but without changing their gender. This adds its aesthetic dimension and invites attention and interest from the audience. This research aims to present the Lengger Lanang Dance in the study of dance aesthetics. Emic and etic approaches and qualitative methods are used to obtain research data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity uses triangulation with data analysis stages including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the aesthetic value of Wonosobo Lengger Lanang dance is described through the form of dance which includes actors, movements, accompaniment, makeup, clothing, performance venues, lighting, property, and the community as an audience. The weight or content consists of atmosphere, ideas and messages, and appearance consisting of wiraga, wirasa, and wirama.
