Abstract

Textbooks are the main learning resource in teaching and learning activities in class, including in Indonesian History subjects. The main focus in this lesson is the discussion of national history that concludes the role and struggle of National Heroes, one of which is West Java Heroes. This study aims to analyze and give an overview regarding the narration of West Java Heroes in the Indonesian History textbooks. This research was carried out using qualitative approach and content analysis methods. The results of this study indicate that the West Java Heroes are depicted as figures who have a high sense of nationalism in various fields such as politics, defense and security, and religion which helps a lot in national events both in Pre-independence and post-independence eras. However, there are several names of West Java Heroes who are not narrated in these textbooks.
