Abstract

In the era of interactive media advancements, graphic design students face challenges in mastering complex software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Canva has gained popularity for its simplicity, efficiency, and AI-driven design features. Surveying 158 graphic design students, the findings reveal that 64.7% of respondents use Canva, though Adobe software remains the preferred choice at 76.3%. Canva is praised for its intuitive interface, allowing students, especially beginners, to complete assignments efficiently, saving time and enhancing accessibility. However, 61.5% of students report using Canva only 1–2 times per week, reflecting its role as a supplementary tool rather than a primary resource for more complex design tasks. While Canva streamlines design processes, concerns arise about its impact on creativity and originality, as it pre-made templates and ease of use may limit the development of independent design skills. The results highlight the need for balance between leveraging technological ease and fostering creativity, with Canva playing a key role in both education and professional design, especially for students still developing foundational skills in graphic design.
