Abstract

This research looks at how reflective self-assessment helps civil engineering students in Indonesia build their self-efficacy during vocational apprenticeships. We use qualitative research methods to explore this topic in detail. Our study is based on Social Cognitive Theory, which helps us understand how self-efficacy and other factors affect learning and performance. Social Cognitive Theory includes several key ideas. Self-Efficacy is about students’ confidence in their own ability to complete tasks successfully. Observational Learning involves students learning by watching others, such as mentors or peers, and then applying what they see. Self-Regulation refers to how students control their own learning process, set goals, and monitor their progress. Outcome Expectations are the beliefs students have about the results of their efforts. In this research, we explore how these ideas apply to vocational apprenticeships. We focus on how students use reflective self-assessment to evaluate their own work and progress. We also look at how observing others, managing their own learning, and believing in their potential impact their self-efficacy. By studying these elements, we aim to show how reflective practices in apprenticeships help students build confidence and improve their skills. This research highlights the importance of self-assessment in developing self-efficacy and enhancing the overall learning experience for civil engineering students.
