Abstract

This research examines how reflective practice influences learning outcomes in vocational apprenticeships for civil engineering students in Indonesia. We use qualitative research methods to gain a detailed understanding of this process. Our study is based on Theory of Reflective Cycle, which provides a structured way to think about and learn from experiences. Reflective Cycle includes several important steps. Description involves describing what happened during the apprenticeship, such as tasks performed and situations encountered. Feeling focuses on how students felt during these experiences, including their emotions and reactions. Evaluation is about assessing what went well and what did not, considering the strengths and weaknesses of their performance. Analysis involves looking deeper into why things happened the way they did and understanding the reasons behind the outcomes. In our research, we explore how students use these steps to reflect on their apprenticeship experiences. We look at how describing, feeling, evaluating, and analyzing their experiences helps them learn and improve. By studying these aspects, we aim to show how reflective practice contributes to better learning outcomes and skill development. This research highlights the role of Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle in helping civil engineering students understand their experiences and enhance their learning during vocaional apprenticeships.
