- Abstract
Longitudinally the image of women in anime has been improving on the whole, but there are still strong limitations. A analysis of the anime popularly broadcast on Bilibili from 2019 to 2023 reveals that women, as the objectified second sex, are portrayed from a theoretical perspective as presenting an image bias of stereotyping, male gaze, and lack of discourse. This pattern is the result of the multi-dimensional game and intertwining of the overall social consciousness, industrial ecology, and individual creative pressure. It is necessary to manage the introduction of Japanese comics in the balance of quality control and channel diversion, and also to revitalise the national comics based on the foundation wall of cultural heritage and development environment, to grasp the cultural dominance.
