Abstract

With the rise of new media, brief clips, characterized by their short length, flatness, and rapid speed, are swiftly entering people's minds. This article analyses the narrative characteristics of topical short videos that have attracted mainstream media attention and uses the most viewed short video of Bilibili, an online video sharing platform in China, in 2022, “How Erjiu Cured My Mental Friction after Being Back in the Village for Three Days.” as an example. This article investigates how current short videos captured the attention of mass media through narrative style, narrative perspective, and narrative language.
