- Abstract
This study aims to determine how self-adjustment is described by overseas students from outside Malang City in dealing with problems and challenges of cultural, linguistic, and environmental differences in the area where they live to pursue education with stress-coping strategies. This research uses qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. Data acquisition in this study used semi-structured interviews and observations. The number of participants in this study amounted to three people. All participants were overseas students from outside Malang City in the 2021–2023 batch, rented and lived in a boarding house, and studied in Malang City. The data obtained will be processed using theory-driven analysis techniques where themes are developed with indicators supporting the theory. The results showed that an excellent ability to self-adjust and apply both coping strategies is needed so that participants can live overseas life without being full of burdens and pressures that affect social and academic life.
