Abstract

This research aims to provide empirical evidence about the impact of Gender Diversity on the Corporate Sustainable Governance Board. The gender issues raised in this study are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programme. The fifth goals of the SDGs relates to gender equality, including ending all forms of discrimination against women wherever and guaranteeing effective participation of women and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making. The increase the number of women in the board is built on the premise that it will improve corporate governance. The research was conducted on companies with ESG scores published in IDX. ESG refers to three key factors of sustainability impact measurement and ethics in investment decision-making. ESG assessment is an important part of evaluating the implementation of ESG practices in companies. Therefore, the IDX is continuously committed to encouraging long-term sustainable investment and improving ESG practice in Indonesian capital markets by working with ESG appraisal agencies and conducting ESG evaluations of IDX-listed companies. Research findings show that gender diversity has a negative impact on green innovation when measured using green processes, but it has no effect when green innovation is measured using green products. The results of this research have contributed to supporting the general hypothesis that women's social preferences and environmental concerns are stronger than men's, which has practical implications for companies seeking to improve environmental competitiveness by improving corporate governance.
