- Abstract
The shortage of Batik Canting Stamps craftsmen has raised concerns amidst the development of printed fabrics with batik motif which are now widely sold on the market. This scarcity is of course directly proportional to the lack of literacy among young people in studying the “mbatik” cultural heritage. The process of making batik or “mbatik” is actually the most important foundational milestone in efforts to preserve batik. This is because an object no longer exists if the craftsman is no longer able to produce the object. This insight into intangible cultural heritage should be able to sensitize various parties in their efforts to preserve metal batik canting stamps which can last longer than other materials with proper care. The study aims to thoroughly analyze the Batik Canting Stamp tool to ensure its preservation and raise awareness among the younger generation of Indonesians. By documenting the intricate details of its creation while the skilled craftsmen are still active, we can contribute to the preservation of this important cultural artifact. To achieve this, a qualitative descriptive method will be used to provide an in-depth account of the metal materials, equipment, and comprehensive manufacturing process involved in the production of Batik Canting Stamps.
