- Abstract
The objective of this research was to examine the needs of learners and one-day trekking for the elective course (Trekking and Adventure Tours). This mixed method research comprised both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Group discussion, participatory observation of trekking, a questionnaire on learners’ satisfaction with fieldwork and outdoor activities were applied as research tools. The findings illustrated that trekking should focus on group activity to strengthen unity among classmates. Regarding the one-day trekking location, learners were interested in a site with natural value where they would be unable to travel by themselves. The results of participatory observation for trekking showed that endemic plants and animals were found during trekking. From the questionnaires, it was observed that the learners who went trekking were satisfied with the guide the most, followed by participation in fieldwork and outdoor activities, and recreation activities during trekking.
