Proceedings of the International Conference on Science and Technology (ICOSAT 2017)
We are very pleased to introduce the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Science and Technology (ICOSAT) 2017. As for previous conferences, the theme was promoting sustainable agriculture, food security, energy, and environment through science and technology for development. This theme is based on the conditions in which the countries of the world are currently struggling to meet the global food security in 2050, therefore we need to think about methods of increasing food production through the efficient use of inputs as well as environmentally sustainable. The world has suffered a lot from a loss of biodiversity and forests, soil, deterioration, water and air quality, closed river basins, deforestation and desertification due to economic development. Therefore, proper policies and managements are required to regulate how critical inputs such as land, water, food, and energy are managed and their effects on the environment. This theme is then divided into four parallel sessions, namely: food, energy, environment, and agriculture.
The conference aims: 1) to provide opportunities to lecturers and researchers throughout Indonesia to publish their research at the international level; 2) to provide support to lecturers and researchers to improve writing skills and to present research results on scientific forums; and 3) to increase university rankings. In general, this conference has gone well and due to the supports and cooperations of various parties, we are able to present 40 selected research results from all participants who have sent and participated in this conference.
Finally, it is appropriate that we record our thanks to our fellow members of the honorary executive committees, international advisory boards, and international conference committees for their great contribution from the conference’s preparations, implementations until publications of this proceeding. We also would like to record our appreciation for the funding support from Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Without funding support from them, this conference will not work properly. Finally, we record our appreciation to Atlantis Press which have given an opportunity for us to publish our conference output in this proceeding.
