Proceedings of the 6th International Conference of Neuroscience, Neurology and Psychiatry Universitas Sumatera Utara (ICONAP 2023)
Conference Name: Proceedings of the 6th International Conference of Neuroscience, Neurology and Psychiatry Universitas Sumatera Utara (ICONAP 2023)
Date: 17-18 May 2023
Location: Medan, Indonesia (Hybrid)
Website: https://iccai.usu.ac.id/ICoNaP/iconap2023 Overview Stress disrupts homeostasis and also sets off an adaptive response that protects an organ- ism from harm. On the other side, high allostatic load may be caused by too much stress or stress at a sensitive period, which eventually encourages or hastens maladaptive pro- cesses. Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs for short, are early life traumas that people go through and are connected to the emergence of mental and behavioral issues in adulthood. A person’s illness course may also be more severe, and they may be less open to therapy for mood and anxiety disorders like depression if they experienced early childhood stress. However, the effects of stress in adulthood can be transient and reversible. Stress throughout early childhood is connected to a shift of the brain’s developmental trajectory, which can lead to long-lasting behavioral modifications. Early life stress exposure can cause behavioral issues that manifest in adults as well as children and adolescents. The field of research of neuroscience is expanding quickly. It requires an under- standing of neurology, psychiatry, and psychology. The audience of this conference will be informed on the most recent developments in neuroscience education. The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Sumatera Utara is hosting the 6th International Conference on Neuroscience, Neurology, and Psychiatry (ICONAP) 2023 for psychiatrists, neurol- ogists, general practitioners, and other interested specialists with the theme “The impact of early life stress on the neuroscience field.” ICONAP is an annual event that started in 2018. Both domestic and foreign speakers are invited to the conference from a wide variety of countries. Throughout the years, the committee has chosen speakers from Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, Australia, India, Thailand, the USA, and France. Speakers at the conference this year will come from Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, Japan, Australia, and Singapore. During the conference, experts and researchers from the domains of neuroscience, neurology, and psychiatry can share their knowledge, perspectives, and ideas. About 1050 researchers and professionals have already participated in prior ICONAPs, and case studies and essays will have the chance to be published in international journals. Also published are more than 100 articles and case studies. The Hybrid Approach The committeehostedthesixthICONAPUSUconferenceusingahybridmeetingapp- roach and its own platform system(https://ocs.usu.ac.id/ICoNaP/iconap2023). During the epidemic and after it, we discovered a few aspects on this platform to be useful for an event of this kind. The conference could be seen live or virtually by attendees. At the start of each session, all participants were called to the conference room, where only the speakers were allowed to present their work. Participants had the ability to post questions in the Q/A section, and presenters responded to them both in-person and online. For the participants to present their research at the conference, there were spaces for e-posters and free papers. Invited Talks The conference, now in its sixth year, gave researchers and professionals in the fields of neuroscience, neurology, and psychiatry the chance to exchange thoughts. After being assessed by reviewers and chosen by the editors, articles and case reports would have the opportunity to be published in international publications. Over a thousand academics and specialists have taken part in prior ICONAP conferences as of this writing. Additionally, there have been published over 128 articles and case studies. The publication covered a variety of subjects this year, including: • Stress, stroke, and neurogenesis
• Inflammatory reaction in neuroscience
• Nutrition, stress, and epilepsy
• Patient’s safety and ethics in psychiatry
• Sleep, nutrition, and stress
• Gene predisposition in mental illness
• Innovative research
• Other topics that related with health
