Abstract

This paper presents the interpretation of new rules of general product specification (GPS) according to International Standard EN ISO 22081. Standard EN ISO 22081 sets out rules for the definition and interpretation of general geometric specifications and general dimensional specifications (Article 5.12 of ISO 8015: 2011). The general GPS specifications are applied individually to each characteristic of a geometric element or to a relationship between geometric elements for which no individual GPS specification of the same type are defined. The introduction of new rules is primarily associated with uncertainty in specifying and using the original specifications when indicating them on drawings. For digital documentation and 3D models, general tolerances must be specified in detail in the documentation. The specifications must be clear for computer-controlled manufacturing and computer-controlled product verification. These necessary details mentioned above are interpreted on specific examples. Experimental measurements were performed on the measuring device EinScan SP (Shining 3D) and on software GOM Inspect and software Solid Edge.
