- Abstract
This paper mainly discusses the role of music played by traditional Chinese musical instruments in the narrative of modern movies, and mainly takes the film Crouching Tiger, hidden dragon as an example to demonstrate. This paper introduces the unique shape and timbre of the Ruan, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, analyzes the consistency between the picture and music of the Silk Road camel bell inserted in the film, and compares the relationship between the picture and music arrangement. At the end of the article, the subtleties in understanding the film and music caused by the cultural differences between China and the West are also discussed.
