Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of teenagers in Candi Wangkal Village regarding Jerome Polin’s Youtube shows as math learning. The method used in this research is qualitative research and uses perception theory. Data collection is collected using interviews, documentation and using data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. With the technique of determining informants using purposive sampling. The results of this study indicate that adolescents’ perceptions of Jerome Polin’s Youtube as math learning can be seen from the first 3 elements, namely the results of research from the perceiver side show that teenagers in Candi Wangkal Village have an interest in learning math, because for teenagers in Candi Wangkal Village after watching Youtube Jerome Polin they find it much easier to understand math. With the existence of Jerome Polin’s Youtube, teenagers get motivation from Jerome to like math lessons, because Jerome Polin motivates them that learning math is not that difficult, therefore teenagers in Candi Wangkal Village are interested in learning math. In terms of the target, it shows that the hand movements that Jerome Polin has done to convey math are very clear so that teenagers understand math more easily. In terms of situation, it shows that teenagers prefer to learn math through Jerome Polin’s Youtube rather than learning math at school, because for them learning math through Jerome Polin’s Youtube is very fun and Jerome Polin provides jokes that make teenagers not easily bored to learn math through his YouTube.
