- Abstract
From double characterization to space transformation in Mrs. Dalloway, this paper points out that by criticizing the imperial violence in urban space through the veteran Septimus’ suffering of spiritual oppression, Woolf explores the transformation of power relationship from urban to rural and domestic space in the characterization of the heroine Clarissa and attempts to realize the empire reconstruction driven by women’s growth.
