Proceedings of the Annual Civic Education Conference (ACEC 2021)
The Annual Civic Education Conference/ACEC is an international conference regularly held by Civic Education Department Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in collaboration with the Association of Pancasila and Indonesian Civic Education Educators/AP3KNI and also Partner Universities, this year ACEC is collaborating with the Department of Pancasila and Citizenship, Manado State University, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The 3rd ACEC 2021 will be held online from 31 May to 1 June 2021 with the theme "Civic Education in Pandemic Covid-19: Challenges and Responses" As one of the challenges of civic education in the pandemic era, it is necessary to adapt to technological advances. Digital pedagogy has transformed the teaching and learning experience in recent decades. Whether we realize it or not, it has affected our knowledge, thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and civic virtue. Civic education is not immune to the challenges and responses that these transforming forces generate. Therefore, students and teachers need support to keep pace.
The Third Annual Civic Education Conference is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary platform that aims to bring together leading experts, educators, policy makers, researchers, lecturers, teachers and students to examine and take strategic roles in developing digital pedagogy and its implications for civic education.
The Third Annual Civic Education Conference invited expert speakers from various universities and national and international institutions including: Professor Kerry J. Kennedy from the Centre for Governance and Citizenship (CGC) The Education University of Hongkong, Professor Sjamsi Pasandaran (Professor of Pancasila and Civic Education Department, Universitas Negeri Manado), Dr. Gamal Abdul Nasir Zakaria (Senior Assistant of Professor Islamic Education, Universiti Brunei Darussalam), Noor Banu Mahadir, Ph.D. (Head of Moral, Civics and Character Building Studies Department, Faculty of Human Sciences, UPSI Malaysia), Prof. Cecep Darmawan (Head of Civic Education Postgraduate Program Indonesia University of Education) and Yudi Latif, M.A., Ph.D. as a Scholars.
The 3rd ACEC 2021 has several theme issue and scope wich include: Blended Learning, Online Learning in Civic Education, Flipped Classroom, Distance Learning, Web-based learning, Social Media, Strengthening National Identity, Strengthening Civil Society, Promoting Local Wisdoms, Enhancing Local Knowledge, Promoting Values of Local History, Handling Controversial Issues, Promoting Social Justice, Promoting Civility in Everyday Life, Institutionalizing Tolerance and Multicultural Values in a Digital Society, Enhancing Democratic Policy Process and System Performance, Strengthening Rights and Democratic Culture in a National Context, Strengthening Multilateral Relations and Institutions for World Peace, Strengthening Decentralization and Local Democracy, Promoting Harmony in a Pluralist Society, Balancing between Rights and Responsibilities, Strengthening Border Areas for Security and Encouraging Conflict Resolution and Digital Citizenship.
The scope is also a reference in collecting scientific papers of conference participants and publishing them into reputable articles by collaborating with Atlantis Press as a publisher. All the conference participants get a coaching clinic regarding the writing of scientific papers by Prof. Dasim Budimansyah and Prof. Kokom Komalasari and edited by several editors before being submitted to Atlantis as a Publisher.
