The World Conference on Governance and Social Sciences (WCGSS 2023) was organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University. This year’s conferencewas successfully conducted on November 8–9, 2023, with the theme of “Navigating the Nexus of Global Challenges: Climate Crisis, Humanizing Technology, and Social-Political Dynamics.”

The conference was opened by the Rector of Hasanuddin University who also gave brief information about the university. After that, the keynote Speaker, Prof. Sulfikar Amir, Ph.D., from Singapore, delivered his keynote address in-person in the main plenary session in 45 min and followed by 15-min Q&A session. Moreover, qualified and experienced moderator from the lecturers of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, moderated this session. More than 200 participants excitedly attended the meeting to take part in the opening ceremony to the end of plenary session. In addition to main plenary session, WCGSS 2023 also had another two plenary sessions that covers four online-hybrid invited speaker address from Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

WCGSS 2023 has accommodated 107 presenters from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. They were divided into four-panel sessions based on the manuscript’s topics. Each panel session consisted of five classrooms that ran a parallel session presentation. Each room had a moderator who managed the presentation and Q&A session. They had 20-min presentation and 5-min Q&A session allocation time. All of the presenters and participants in each room had a fruitful discussion, so it can improve participants’ understanding based on the material presented. It also aims to exchange ideas among others.

The most profound appreciation was given to the partner, committee, keynote speakers, presenters, participants, and those who have supported so that this conference was successfully conducted. All of the participants joined and took part in all of the sessions without any significant problems. As the proof of conference participation, all keynote speakers, presenters, and participants got a certificate from the committee after the conference.

This proceeding is the compilation of 105 accepted manuscripts from the presenters. It presents the research results, ideas, information, and application related to the theory, design, development, implementation, testing, or evaluation in the areas of social and political sciences. Various topics in the social and political sciences are covered in this proceeding. Under the theme of “Navigating the Nexus of Global Challenges: Climate Crisis, Humanizing Technology, and Social-Political Dynamics,” the conference covers several sub-themes consisted of:

We hope that this volume can give contribution to gathering and sharing ideas, research, practices, and experiences to deal with the complex nexus of contemporary global problems and challenges surrounding social and political sciences. Moreover, we hope everyone enjoys reading this volume of proceeding and gets advantages in developing idea of the research in the social and political sciences. We appreciate the effort and the hard work from those involved and look forward to a more successful conference next year.
