Website: http://www.icupd.org In today’s world of increasing globalization and accelerating urbanization, there are both challenges and opportunities in the field of urban planning and design. In order to gather global wisdom and strength to address these challenges, we hosted the 2024 International Conference on Urban Planning and Design (UPD 2024) from April 26 to 28, 2024, in Suzhou, China, via virtual form. This conference is not only an academic event, but also an important platform for international exchange in the field of urban planning and design. The call for papers for this conference covers a wide range of urban planning and design topics, including but not limited to Urban Ecology and Green Building Design, Community Participation and Democratic Urban Governance, Innovation and Development of Urban Transportation and Traffic Planning, Urban Space Optimization and Functional Layout, Innovative Urban Design and Future City Vision, etc. We encourage participants to conduct in-depth research and discussion from multiple perspectives and levels, with a view to promoting innovative development in the field of urban planning and design. UPD 2024 attracted many experts, scholars, engineers, technology developers, business people and other related personnel from all over the world, including some internationally renowned scholars and industry leaders. Their presence injected more vigor and wisdom into the conference. During the conference, we had in-depth discussions around the research fields of urban planning, urban design, civil engineering and architecture, etc. In the keynote speech session, two renowned experts were invited to give wonderful speeches, who shared the latest research results and cutting-edge technologies, providing participants with valuable academic insights. Topics discussed included State of the Art in Con- struction Technology (by Prof. Mohamed A. Ismail, Brunel London School, UK/North China University of Technology, China), and Evaluation of Subway Station Areas Integration in Capital Functional Core Area (by Assoc. Prof. Bin Hu, Beijing University of Technology, China). The proceedings of this conference is an important manifestation of the results of UPD 2024, where the excellent papers submitted from home and abroad were included after strict evaluation and screening. These papers not only represent the latest research results and cutting-edge technologies in the field of urban planning and design, but also demonstrate the wisdom and strength of scholars around the world in this field.We hope that this volume will become an important reference for future research in the field of urban planning and design and provide useful reference and inspiration for researchers in related fields. Finally, wewould like to thank all the organizers, speakers, participants and sponsors involved in this conference for their support and contributions.
