Proceedings of the TMIC 2022 Slope Stability Conference (TMIC 2022)
Conference name: Proceedings of the TMIC 2022 Slope Stability Conference (TMIC 2022)
Date: 12-13 December 2022
Location: Toronto, Canada (Virtual)
Website: https://tvseminars.com/tmic-home/ Dear Authors and Respected Readers,
With deep satisfaction, we write this Preface to the Proceedings of the first TVSeminars international conference with the collaboration of the Mining One company in Australia (TMIC 2022) held online on 12 and 13 December 2022. The conference theme, “Slope Stability”, was an invitation to bring sharp brains in geotechnical engineering–academics, researchers, and practitioners–together to discuss progress and exchange ideas. TMIC 2022 was attended by more than 50 participants from all continents. It received over 45 abstract submissions, which were carefully peer-reviewed. Twenty-one papers were accepted for presentation at the conference. There were seven oral sessions, with each session covering a specific topic. The papers are published in these proceedings. In addition to the contributed papers, Gary Davison and Prof. Richard J. Bathurst delivered two invited keynotes at the conference. These keynotes discussed practical ways to maximize the benefits of existing and emerging empirical approaches and powerful numerical modelling and data analysis tools. We want to thank the organizing committee, technical advisors, and reviewers for making the daunting task of organizing a major international conference. We would like to thank our gold sponsors for their contributions to make this even happen: Rocscience, Mining One, and Cavroc companies. We thank all keynote speakers, authors, and conference participants for their contributions. We hope that the Conference Proceedings will be an excellent reference for geotechnical engineering. We are confident that what we learn from these Proceedings will inspire us all to contribute to scaling the challenges we presently face.
