Website: https://tgdic2023.stptrisakti.ac.id/ Foreword The 4th International Conference on Tourism, Gastronomy, and Tourist Destination (TGDIC 2023) has the theme “Rethinking Sustainable Tourism and Gastronomy in Global Context.” Unlike the previous conferences which were held in Jakarta, Indonesia, this year the conference was held offline in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 16–18 October 2023. TGDIC 2023 serves as a forum for knowledge and experience sharing and invites tourism scholars, practitioners, decision-makers, and stakeholders from various regions to share their knowledge, experience, concepts, examples of good practice, and critical analysis with their international peers. In addition to the organizing committee and keynote speakers, the conference was attended by international presenters and participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Switzerland, Thailand, India, and Taiwan. Preface The 4th International Conference on Tourism, Gastronomy, and Tourist Destination (TGDIC 2023) is part of our institution’s Joint International Conference in 2023. Previously, this conference was conducted in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2016, then in 2018, interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and then revived in 2021 and 2023. This year, we are grateful to conduct the 4th TGDIC in the Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for three days from 16 to 18 October 2023. Our conference’s theme, “Rethinking Sustainable Tourism and Gastronomy in a Global Context,” serves as a crucial role in promoting sustainable development. It provides insight into sustainable tourism and gastronomy challenges and opportunities and proposes strategies to rethink and improve them. This conference is special because we are honoured to have His Excellency Mr. Her- mono, the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as our keynote speaker. In addition, our invited speakers are prominent scholars and professionals from UCSI Malaysia (Associate Prof. Edmund Mark Casa), Trisakti Institute of Tourism (Dr. Adhi Trirahmadi), IMI Switzerland (Ioan- nis Evagelou), Burapha University, Thailand (Dr. Krittaorn Chewwasang) will share their enlightening insights and perspectives on current issues in tourism and gastronomy. After the plenary session, we had parallel sessions with 52 presenters from five countries. We hope to have all of their works published by Atlantis Press. This conference shows the bold commitment of Trisakti Institute of Tourism as a world-class university in creating high-impact research towards our vision for 2035, and this conference seeks to explore the challenges and opportunities offered by the hospitality industry in the context of sustainable tourism. This conference would not be possible without the assistance of others. Therefore, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, partners, and the dedicated members of the Organizing Committee who have worked very hard to make this conference possible. Their support and commitment have been instrumental in bringing us together. Therefore, we would like to extend our most tremendous appreciation for their contribution to this conference. Our gratitude also goes to the editors and other staff of Atlantis Press for their time and support in publishing the proceedings of this conference. Last but not least, we would like to reaffirm our shared commitment to rethinking sustainable tourism and hospitality. Together, we can shape a future where these industries thrive in harmony with our planet and its diverse cultures. The Committee of TGDIC 2023
