Website: http://rtdconference.info/ To whom it may concern, It is with great pleasure that we present the proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Resilience by Technology and Design (RTD 2024) with the main theme of “Fostering Sustainability”. This conference stands as a testament to the urgent need for interdisciplinary collaboration and technological innovation in addressing the most pressing challenges of our time—ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. In an era marked by unprecedented environmental, social, and economic pressures, the imperative to develop resilient systems that can adapt to and mitigate these challenges has never been more critical. Climate change, resource depletion, and rapid urbanization are but a few of the global issues demanding immediate and sustained action. The RTD 2024 conference was conceivedwith the recognition that these complex problems cannot be solved in isolation; they require a convergence of ideas, expertise, technologies, and designs across multiple disciplines. This year’s conference attracted 129 submissions from a diverse array of researchers, innovators, and practitioners worldwide, each contributing valuable insights toward our shared goal of sustainability. Through a meticulous peer-review process involving 151 esteemed reviewers, 80 papers were selected, reflecting an acceptance rate of 62.01%. Of these, 30 papers have been included in this conference proceeding, representing some of the most compelling and innovative research presented at RTD 2024. The remaining authors have opted to seek publication opportunities in our associated journals and other scholarly outlets, revising their work based on the insightful comments and suggestions received from conference participants. The papers in this proceeding are organized into six thematic tracks, each representing a critical area of sustainable development: 1. Big Data, AI, ML, DL, and Cloud Computing in Sustainable Practices
This track underscores the critical role of data-driven technologies in fostering sustainable practices. The application of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and cloud computing has the potential to revolutionize how we manage resources, optimize processes, and make informed decisions that benefit the environment and society. 2. Robotics and Autonomous Systems Enhancing Sustainability
Studies in this track investigate how advancements in robotics and autonomous systems are transforming industries, enhancing robotic and autonomous systems, and increasing efficiency, all of which contribute to a more sustainable future. 3. Cross-Disciplinary Approaches to Achieving the SDGs
Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires a holistic approach that transcends traditional academic boundaries. This track highlights innovative cross-disciplinary collaborations that are essential for addressing the interconnected challenges of sustainable development. 4. IoT Communication and Interaction Technology Can Power A Greener Future
Studies in this track offer transformative possibilities and solutions for enhancing communication and interaction technologies, enabling smarter, more sustainable systems that reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. 5. Green Innovation and FinTech for a More Sustainable Planet
This track examines the synergies between financial technology (FinTech) and green innovation. By leveraging these tools, papers in this track study the factors that drive the finance and innovative solutions for sustainable development, promote ethical consumption, and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. 6. Sustainable Smart City
As urbanization continues to accelerate, the development of sustainable smart cities becomes imperative. This track delves into the strategies and technologies that can make cities more livable, efficient, and environmentally friendly. Moreover, the conference dedicates special attention to the sub-theme “For a Sustainable Mekong Delta,” addressing the unique environmental, economic, and social challenges faced by this vital region. The research presented under this sub-theme offers targeted solutions that are crucial for ensuring the long-term resilience of the Mekong Delta, a region that is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The ideas, research, and collaborations that emerge from RTD 2024 have the potential to significantly influence policymaking and offer real-world solutions to shape future innovations and drive the global agenda toward a more sustainable, resilient world. We are deeply grateful to the authors, reviewers, and participants whose contributions have made this event a success. Their dedication to advancing sustainability through technology and design is both inspiring and essential as we navigate the complex challenges of the contemporary era. We trust that the insights and knowledge contained in these proceedings will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers alike, and we hope that the discussions initiated here will continue to resonate and inspire action long after the conference concludes. Sincerely yours, Tu Anh Trinh
