- Abstract
This article describes the realization of speech acts suggestion expressed by the Islamic preachers (da’i(-s)) in responding to the questioners' (mad'u) questions. The data were obtained by employing the methods of nonparticipative-observation and recording method. The data analysis used the method of ways and purpose. The obtained findings include the da'i expressed speech acts of suggestion into five distinguished forms, namely the imperatives, providing options, impersonal, hedging, and hints. The existing power and politeness factors surely affect the selection and use of the five distinguished types of speech acts suggestion.
