- Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of competencies and job stress on work engagement with job satisfaction as a mediating variable in the Employees of theBukittinggi City Government. This type of research is explanatory. The population of this study is the employees of the Bukittinggi City Government. The sample in this study were 200 respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire distributed to respondents. Data analysis using SEM AMOS.The results of this study competencies has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction and work engagement, job stress has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction and work engagement and job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on work engagement. Furthermore competecies mediated by job satisfaction have a positive and significant effect on employee work engagement and job stress mediated by job satisfaction have a negative and significant effect on employee work engagement.
