Proceedings of the 1st Public Health International Conference (PHICo 2016)
PHICo stands for Public Health International Conference, which is planned to be held every year, especially during the anniversary of public health faculty, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. PHICo is an effort to show that world health issues can be shared and sought solving together with academics, experts, observers, consultants, government and parties related to health problems. The first PHICo was held on December 1-2, 2016. The theme was Tropical Health and Universal Coverage, and the sub-theme is Reaching Universal Coverage in Managing Tropical Diseases. This was due to the problem of climate-change impacts, which are the priority of discussion of public health experts around the world.
Because the field of public health was too broad, then, in order to be more specifically discussing the impact of climate change, the papers are being divided again by the field of public health (panels). The panels are the Environmental Health and Safety, Epidemiology and Surveillance, Health Promotion, Health Policy Analysis, Health information System, Public Health Nutrition, Reproductive Health and Population, Occupational Health and Safety and Social Pharmacology.
The venue of the 1st Phico is in Gran Dhika Hotel, Medan, Sumatra Utara, Indonesia. The speakers in the seminar came from four countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Kuwait. There are 174 participants who managed to make a presentation in English. It can be said that the first Phico is running well.
With the large amounts of paper that go beyond what has been targeted by the committee, the committee conducted a more rigorous review process to maintain quality standards. The review process involves the reviewer from neighboring countries and local reviewer, who has become an international journal writer. After the three-time review process, it was decided to accept only 79 articles.
Thank you all for your participation and the hard work of the committees. See you at next year Phico 2017.
