The 2nd International Seminar on Science and Technology (ISSTEC) is a seminar organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and held on November 25, 2019, at The Alana Yogyakarta Hotel and Convention Center. The 2nd ISSTEC 2019 talk about a theme of Functional Materials for Sustainable innovation on Science and Technology with a scope including material science for the environment and Energy, Sensors and Biosensors, Green Synthesis organic compounds, nano pharmacy, photochemistry, actuarial science, environmental statistics, solar and renewable energy, biotechnology and other issues of interest related to science and technology for sustainable development.

Three keynote speakers with a high reputation presented and delivered a presentation at The 2nd ISSTEC, namely Prof. Ruey-an Doong from National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan), Prof. Zuhaimy bin Ismail from the University of Technology Malaysia, Malaysia and Prof. Garnpimol Rotthidej from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. They discussed the issue of current functional material for future sustainability. In addition to the three keynote speakers, the seminar was also attended by the invited presenters, oral presenters, and poster presenters from all over the world who will discuss similar topics. We all realize that the theme of sustainability is currently the center of global attention, especially by scientists.

Sustainability is also related to the existence of renewable energy because we cannot depend on fossil energy. Various materials have the potential to be utilized and developed for the sustainability of this life, both organic and inorganic materials. Our big thanks are delivered to our keynote speakers, invited speakers, the academic board of the committee, the reviewers, the Editor, the Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Islam Indonesia, and the Rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

This proceeding book specifically discusses statistics and big data development, innovation, and mathematics for sustainability. We hope that this seminar can contribute to sustainability.
