- Abstract
The article deals with W. Ainsworth's historical romance "Crichton" (1837), the events in the romance take place in France, in 1579. The fact that the main character James Crichton, who has a natural charisma, attracts ladies is emphasized. The main feminine characters of the romance and the plot lines connected with them are analyzed.
