- Abstract
In the texts of XVIIth century French writers Molière and Saumaise we find the examples of expressions from the précieuses salons of Mme de Rambouillet and Mme de Scudéry. Their analysis suggests that the specificity of women's education at that time determined the use of periphrasis based on the prescriptions about metaphor in Aristotle's "Poetics".
