Website: https://imdes.umn.ac.id/2023/ In the context of an information society, the advent of digital virtuality has become an inseparable aspect of the human existence. As we navigate these uncharted digital realms, the scope for exploring the interplay between design and its impact on individuals in virtual environments has expanded exponentially. This burgeoning landscape has spurred the curiosity of scientists, researchers, educators, and the public, prompting them to delve deeper into interdisciplinary studies relating to virtuality, arts, design, and the human experience. It is firmly believed that fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary research in arts and design will break down barriers between fields, ultimately yielding greater and more comprehensive benefits for humanity. At the heart of the 2nd International Conference of Innovation in Media and Visual Design (IMDES 2023) lies a captivating theme - "Human, Design, and Virtuality." These proceedings comprise papers presented at International Conference of Innovation in Media and Visual Design (IMDES), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during 27th – 28th of July, 2023.The IMDES offers vast exchange possibilities to researchers, practitioners, academics, and design professionals. This exciting event is made possible through a wonderful collaboration between the esteemed National Academy of Arts, Culture, and Heritage (ASWARA) in Malaysia and the vibrant Universitas Multimedia Nusantara in Indonesia. Together, we aim to create a welcoming space where academics, researchers, and practitioners from diverse backgrounds can come together, bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the table. The conference will serve as a melting pot of ideas, delving into the captivating realms of virtuality, design, technology, and mass media, while also pondering their profound impact on individuals in our ever-evolving digital landscape. The four keynote speakers were Prof. Tetsuaki Baba, PhD (Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan), Prof. Phakkharawat Sittiprapaporn, PhD (Head, Neuroscience Research Center, School of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand), Prof. Eku Wand Hochschule Für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (Braunschweig University of Art (Hbk)), Germany), And Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Khairul Azril Bin Ismail, National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA), Malaysia. In the spirit of embracing both traditional and modern paradigms, the IMDES 2023 adopts a hybrid conference format, incorporating both virtual and on-site participation at the esteemed National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This hybrid approach seeks to foster inclusivity, enabling participants from various geographic locations to engage actively in the conference. With great anticipation, we hope that this conference will serve as an invaluable opportunity to discern prevailing trends and contemplate the future implications of humanity's relationship with virtuality in the realm of arts and design. We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants and contributors for joining us on this academic journey, as we collectively endeavor to enrich our understanding of the dynamic interactions between human beings, design, and the digital world.
