Abstract

The binarization of Tibetan ancient document image have always been the focus of research, in this paper, an automatic block local binarization method based on Lab color space is proposed for stained Tibetan ancient document image. Firstly, weaken and eliminate the influence of the stains using the location information of the stains obtained by the information of the image itself in Lab color space. Secondly, the image is automatically partitioned according to the number and size of the character in the image. Finally, local binarization processing is performed and binarized image is obtained. The experiment shows that this method has a good binarization effect to the stained Tibetan ancient document image.
