- Abstract
This paper aims to introduce, compare and analyze the subtitling mechanisms and procedures of both China’s official film studios and fansubs. By comparison, the author finds that both of them have advantages and disadvantages. After analyzing the disadvantages of coexistence, four problems of lack of staff, low subtitling payment, low subtitler’s status and non-unified subtitling standards are introduced, and four corresponding suggestions are proposed to improve the subtitling system and process of official and voluntary organizations, thus promoting the development of film subtitling in China.
