Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the form of social control on the deviant behavior of students of the Social Sciences Education Study Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Makassar State University. This is qualitative research. The approach is phenomenology. Data netted by techniques: interviews, observation, and documentation. The data is validated through: Perseverance Observation, Triangulation, Details description, auditing. Data were analyzed by categorization. The results showed that social control is a social institution that directly or indirectly exists in every social institution, social organizations and also social institutions with various forms. As an educational institution, Higher Education/Campus also between one and another certainly have a variety of ways or forms of social control. Preventive and repressive social control are two forms of collective-functional control, meaning that all elements / communities of PIPS Study Program based on the functions they develop carry out social control over students’ deviant behavior both preventive and repressive. Collective-functional control of the PIPS Study Program is already running, but the process is not yet optimal and has not been consistently and continuously integrated. If collective-functional control runs consistently and integrated / integrated, not only can students’ deviant behavior be controlled, but also all elements of the PIPS Study Program society, namely lecturers, data collectors and study program leaders are also controlled from deviant behavior.
