- Abstract
As the country with the second largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has a very promising zakat potential in Indonesia, reaching IDR 327.6 trillion as predicted in the IPPZ study, but its realization is still far below that figure. Accessibility and credibility remain the main issues that plague most zakat organizations in Indonesia, both government-run and community-run. This study aims to explore the potential and challenges of implementing blockchain technology in increasing transparency and accountability in zakat fund management in Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach by collecting data in depth and in detail. Through literature studies and case analysis, this study will identify the potential benefits of blockchain in increasing public trust, reducing the potential for misuse of funds, and accelerating the distribution of assistance to mustahik. In addition, this study will also identify the technical, regulatory, and social challenges faced in implementing blockchain in ZISWAF institutions in Indonesia. The results of this study are expected to provide comprehensive policy recommendations to support the adoption of blockchain technology in the ZISWAF sector in Indonesia.
