This volume originated from a collection of proceedings presented at the International Conference on Psychology 2022 (ICoP) held by the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Changes in information technology (IT) occur rapidly, and the progress of the latest theories in contemporary psychology makes studies related to human progress accordingly. Various studies on human mental processes and behavior in the era of IT (or “society 5.0”) and globalization also continue to forge ahead. On the one hand, the use of modern technology such as IT and artificial intelligence is increasingly widespread in the era of “society 5.0.” On the other hand, psychology as a science still emphasizes its study in the context of human behavior. Thus, human beings are expected to create new values through technological developments to minimize the gap between humanity and other aspects of life. In addition, humans continue to strive to maintain local wisdom to maintain the balance of human interaction with the environment and the universe.

Various local pearls of wisdom that are still maintained that positively impact human behavior deserve to be studied in the development of psychological knowledge. Thus, indigenous psychology helps us understand how humans live, grow, and develop, as well as their thinking, feeling, and behavior patterns.

Therefore, International Conference on Psychology 2022 aims to increase knowledge of various indigenous treatments practicedworldwide and to connect with themost recent scientific developments in contemporary psychology.

This conference also aims to facilitate discussion on the state-of-the-art approaches and treatments indigenous in the context of Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and various parts of the world. Some scholars agreed that the indigenous aspects and local wisdom have to be understood and linked with the latest developments in contemporary psychology.
