The present volume contains selected papers of the International Conference on Contemporary Social and Political Affairs (ICoCSPA) 2017. The ICoCSPA 2017 is the 2nd international conference. It was conducted in Garden Palace Hotel, Surabaya during 6-7 September 2017. Many scholars had presented different research topics, ideas, and visions under the main topic about “Development and Security in Risk Society”. The conference was fully organized and funded by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Airlangga.
The committee received 120 abstract submissions from many universities and research institutes in Indonesia and overseas under four main topics; human security and political violence (HS); Border Management and Governance (BMG); Globalisation, Conflict and Local Preservation (GL), and Digital Society, Cyber Crime, and National security (DS). The scientific committee decided to accept 72 (seventy-two) Extended Abstracts to be presented. However the committee only decided 24 (twenty four) participant papers and 2 (two) key note speakers to be published in the international proceeding.
Reviewing papers of ICoCSPA 2017 was a challenging process. The papers were reviewed by a blind peer review. Each paper was reviewed by two reviewers. The committee invited the researchers from different university from the country and abroad to implement the blind peer review. We would like to thank all the reviewers for their effort and time in reviewing all the papers.
We believe that all the papers in this proceeding will contribute to the world society’s dream in reaching a better condition of the current and future generation.
