Sustainable Development Goals, abbreviated as SDGs, are a series of goals created by the United Nations (UN) as a guide for all member countries to achieve sustainable development. SDGs were agreed upon by 190 countries and ratified through the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2015, in New York, United States. This global development agenda is effective from 2015 to 2030.
In the busy world of today, a consensus on a common global objective will help people, organizations, and governments around the world agree on the course of development, concentrating on things that will actually benefit the future, guiding all parties to concentrate on the same thing, energizing all efforts, and making it simpler to manage and implement so that all parties can work together to achieve their desired results.
With a common objective, the public will constantly be watching every policy and development move made by each national leader. This indicates that a common objective gives all societal components a chance to take charge of the entire development process, guaranteeing adherence to the course toward a common goal, promoting the mobilization of all networks of knowledge, skills, and practices to overcome the different challenges encountered in implementing sustainable development, and mobilizing all stakeholder networks. In order to address the complicated issues of sustainable development and the fight against poverty, hunger, and disease, this multi-stakeholder process is essential.
For this reason, the Association of Indonesian Law School Leaders (APPTHI) held a series of conferences in two countries to discuss and make it a meeting place for world law experts with law lecturers throughout Indonesia and invited lecturers from various countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, Europe, South Korea, America, and India to take a part in this conference. This International Conference is the second conference organized by the APPTHI, which is a sequel to the International Conference on Legal Changes held at the Sumpah Pemuda School of Law (STIHPADA) Palembang and the Faculty of Law, National University of Malaysia.
This activity has two main themes, each held at the Sumpah Pemuda School of Law in Palembang on April 27, 2024, namely “Strategic Partnerships within the Framework of SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDGs) amongASEANCountries” and at the Faculty of Law, National University of Malaysia on July 10, 2024, with the theme “Managing IT and AI in the Era of Disruptive World,” which forms a series of academic activities with a wide spectrum and dimension of legal knowledge from various legal perspectives such as business law, corporate law, civil law, criminal law, intellectual property law, telematics law, agrarian law, environmental law, and constitutional law/human rights.
This series of International Conferences involves campuses as co-hosts in Jakarta (hosted by Sumpah Pemuda Palembang School of Law and the Faculty of Law, National University of Malaysia), including Trisakti University, Pancasila University, UPN Veteran Jakarta, 17 Agustus 1945 Semarang University, Panca Bakti University, Djakarta Islamic University, Warmadewa University, Muslim University of Indonesia, and Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia.
Hopefully, this conference will not only be a scientific forum for APPTHI members and various foreign partner universities by providing outputs in the form of indexed proceedings and journals, but also an event that will contribute thoughts in the field of law for the Indonesian government in conducting studies on legal changes positively as well as being a think tank for the formation of state laws and policies.
