The 4th Annual International Conference on Material Science and Engineering (ICMSE2016) was successfully held in Guangzhou, China, from June 17 to June 19, 2016. The ICMSE2016 is becoming one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of material science and engineering in China. It provides a forum for scientists, scholars, engineers and students from the universities all around the world and the industry to present ongoing research activities, and hence to foster research relations between the universities and the industry. This conference provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. The first ICMSE (ICMSE2013) was successfully held during October 4-6, 2013 in Guilin. China. The second ICMSE (ICMSE2014) was successfully held during August 8-9, 2014 in Xi’an, China. The third ICMSE (ICMSE2015) was successfully held during May 13-May 15, 2015 in Guangzhou.

This proceeding tends to collect the up-to-date, comprehensive and worldwide state-of-art knowledge on material science and engineering. All of accepted papers were subjected to strict peer-reviewing by 3-5 expert referees. The papers have been selected for this proceedings based on originality, significance, and clarity for the purpose of the conference. The selected papers and additional late-breaking contributions made an exciting technical program on conference. The conference program was extremely rich, featuring invited keynote speeches, panel discussions, high-impact oral and poster presentations. The keynote speaker is internationally recognized leading expert in the research field of material science and engineering, who have demonstrated outstanding proficiency and have achieved distinction in their profession. We hope this conference will not only provide the participants a broad overview of the latest research results on material science and engineering, but also provide the participants a significant platform to build academic connections.
