- Abstract
This article deals with the biomimetic approach in the construction design process of small and light electric vehicles (EVs) suitable for transporting people and small cargo over short distances in small cities (small cities under 100 thousand people). The efficiency of electric vehicles depends on the design and configuration, which directly affects the economic and ecological aspects of green transport. The construction and configuration itself must be solved already at the initial stage of the design construction process. Natural entities are an example of not only perfect and permanent shapes, structures, forms, and processes, but also an example of “ready in time” adaptive structures. Therefore, biomimetic principles established on these examples are suitable for use in sustainability design. At present, the technological world development of EVs is at a high level and meets safety requirements, and fulfills the demands of users. The small EVs with a developing charging infrastructure is a real solution for reducing CO2 emissions in Slovakia. In this article, the biomimetic approach supports the construction design process and is presented in the study examples of the constructional design of EVs Edison and Modulo designed at the University of Žilina.
