- Abstract
The article deals conceptual design of a power plant using algae biofuels. Traditional energy sources, dominated by fossil fuels, persist despite growing renewable energy trends like solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal power. However, the emergence of algae-based biofuels offers a promising new direction in energy production. Algae not only cleanse wastewater but also produce electricity with minimal carbon footprint. This technology prioritizes on-site electricity consumption over mass distribution, leading to significant cost reductions. Microalgae, with their high solar energy conversion efficiency, offer advantages over conventional crops and can thrive in controlled aquatic environments. They boast fast growth rates, adaptability to various water types, and continuous production cycles. Additionally, municipal and industrial wastes can serve as nutrient sources for algae cultivation. Despite its potential, commercial utilization of algae-based energy remains underexplored.
