Abstract

Traction electric vehicles are on a certain rise today. Traction battery systems for these electric drives are related to this. Each specific application requires its own approach to the design of a good battery system. Existing technologies have their positives and negatives, which need to be minimized. In certain cases, they cannot be used and it is necessary to develop their own. The design of battery modules for electric traction applications is determined by two basic requirements, namely weight reduction, sufficient strength and stiffness of the battery module. The selection of the material follows the other processes of the production of the whole final product, the material issue is the pivotal point of all phases of production. The design is a very important step from a mechanical point of view, which aims to identify the materials with the required potential and by the elimination method to select the most suitable one based on the given requirements. In the first part, the design of the traction battery was created based on the requirements for a specific autonomous vehicle. The second part of the contribution is devoted to the production using 3D printing combined with composite materials and the testing of the modules of this traction battery.
