- Abstract
Since the first aircrafts were produced one of the main objectives of the aircrafts manufacturers was to keep the wight of the aircraft down without compromising the structural integrity and strength of the aircraft. This led to the utilization of fabrics for the skin of the aircrafts in the years of infancy of aircraft building, with the improvement in technologies the materials used in the construction varied but also added wight to the aircraft. In order to reduce the wight of aircrafts various innovative solution were used. In the recent years composites have take the spot light due to their versatility, and currently the order of the day is to use green composites or hybrid composites in the manufacturing of components for aircrafts.
