Abstract

The Pulitzer Prize for Art Criticism plays an important role in the field of art criticism. It’s award-winning works not only interpret artworks, but also build a bridge between art and reality, focusing on the cultural conflicts and contradictions of different people. In the context of globalization, the flow of people among cultural groups is becoming more and more close, and the cultural conflicts between countries and even within countries are becoming more and more intense. It is helpful for China to take the initiative in international public opinion and reduce the negative impact of cultural friction. In this paper, the idea of cultural codes with Roland Barthes and Stuart hall’s encoding and decoding theory to the text perspective, thoroughly studies the text behind the cultural background, analyzing the forming process of the cultural conflict, reveal the link between art criticism and cultural conflicts, and then explore how should take in the cultural conflict resolution strategy.
