- Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using a selfhood builder to improve selfhood as one component of self-esteem in children aged six. As a child’s foundation of courage to try new things, self-esteem supports children by giving them confidence to explore the environment. Because of the importance of self-esteem in a child of this age, this research focused on selfhood and self-esteem in a girl with a self-esteem problem. An intervention program was administered in four sessions of 45 - 55 minutes per session within one week. Measurement for the program intervention was reflected by two success indicators. Any increase in the number of indicators for selfhood fulfilled before and after the program was the first indicator of success, and it was measured before and after each session. Second, to evaluate each session, the achievement of the objectives from each session was measured. The results showed an increase from 11 indicators before the program to 17 indicators after the program’s completion. The indicators for success within each session were also fulfilled. Based on the results, a selfhood builder can improve selfhood in a six-year-old child. Implementation of similar programs in the future could be done by doing a follow-up or further development of design and intervention settings.
