- Abstract
Love is one of the oldest themes in Chinese literature. The Book of Songs, which lead the lyrical poetry in Chinese literature, is a delightful collection of love poems that are as bright as the river of stars. In the poems of the Book of Songs, the love, courtship, rendezvous, longing, marriage, desertion and mourning between a man and a woman are described in their details. The love poems depicting their psychological activities in a beautiful and genuine, simple and ancient, or poignant and moving way, among which we find that “secret love, sleeplessness, illusions and resentment” are the typical psychology of love in human love life. The poems also provide practical implications for the emotional education of contemporary university students.
