- Abstract
Information gap refers to the situation where information is only known by some of people in the exchange of two or more people. In communication, the speaker has the information that the listener does not know, or the speaker wants to know what the listener has. The information gap focuses on the actual interaction of learners in teaching activities and has received extensive attention as the development of Communicative Language Teaching and Task-Based Language Teaching. In this paper, we mainly discuss the application of the principles of information gap and the tasks of information gap in the teaching of words, sentence patterns, speaking, and reading in English teaching in middle school with the purpose to help students set up correct learning motivation, to stimulate them to use foreign language to obtain information and to promote language acquisition effectively in various classroom activities.
