The 2021 6th International Conference on Financial Innovation and Economic Development (ICFIED 2021) was planned to be held on January 29-31, 2021 in Sanya, China. Currently, the entire world is struggling against the virulent pandemic COVID-19. Unfortunately, each of us is affected, either overtly or covertly. Our conference, the 2021 6th International Conference on Financial Innovation and Economic Development (ICFIED 2021) was not an exception.

Nowadays, mass gatherings are not permitted by the government. It is uncertain when the COVID-19 would end, so it remains unclear for postponement time, while many scholars and researchers wanted to attend this long-waited conference and have academic exchanges with their peers. Therefore, in order to actively respond the call of the government, and meet author's request, the ICFIED 2021, which was planned to be held in Sanya, China from January 29-31, 2021, was changed to be held online through Zoom software. This approach not only reduces people gathering, but also meets their communication needs.

ICFIED 2021 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of financial innovation and economic development to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in renewable energy, environmental protection and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in renewable energy and environmental protection and related areas.

The conference model was divided into two parts: speeches of keynote speakers and oral presentations. There were over 150 participants attended the meeting. In the first part, we were honored to have invited three professors as our keynote speakers. The first one, Prof. Gordana Kierans, Shenzhen Technology University, China. She performed a speech: The Circular Economy: What and Where are the Opportunities for Entrepreneurs? And then we had Prof. Hua Wang, from Shenzhen Technology University, China. He performed a speech: Robotic-advisory within the Fintech domain. The speech talked about the traditional financial advisory and the advantage & the features of robot-advisor. And then discussed the different development stages of “robot-advisor” between domestic and abroad, with several practical problems need to be addressed, and finally the prospected of the robot-advisor in future. The last keynote speakers, Prof. Marco I. Bonelli, from SIAS Intl. University, China. He shared a speech: A CURRENCY REVOLUTION IN THE MAKING: THE DIGITAL YUAN. His presentation covered how a CBDC could operate domestically; specifically the impact it could have on the Chinese economy and society. It also looks at the possible international implications for trade and geopolitics. Their insightful speeches had triggered heated discussion in the second session of the conference. The WeChat discussion lasted for about 30 minutes. Every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful and insightful knowledge.

The proceedings of ICFIED 2021 span over 7 topical tracks, that include: Business & Economics, Business Performance Management, Consumer Behavior, Cost Management, Economic Policy, Household Behavior and Family Economics and other related fields. All the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of International publication standard.

We would like to acknowledge all of those who have supported ICFIED 2021. Each individual and institutional help were very important for the success of this conference. Especially we would like to thank the organizing committee for their valuable advices in the organization and helpful peer review of the papers. We hope that ICFIED 2021 will be a forum for excellent discussions that will put forward new ideas and promote collaborative researches. We are sure that the proceedings will serve as an important research source of references and the knowledge, which will lead to not only scientific and engineering progress but also other new products and processes.
